Contrasts: Carte Blanche for Florian Benfer

Cappella Amsterdam conducted by Florian Benfer

David Jansen - organ

The young German conductor Florian Benfer, artistical leader of the renowned Stockholm Kammerkör, will lead Cappella Amsterdam in a contrastfull programme, in which he will use the versatility and the flexibility of this choir to the fullest. On his programme he added Te Deum by Mendelssohn next to the ritualMythes Étoilés by Norwegian composer Lasse Thoresen (1949). Both composers focus on the unfolding of sound: Grand as in a cathedral with Mendelssohn, subtle within one single tone with Thoresen.

Thoresen is a great name in Scandinavia, but lesser known in the Netherlands. Time to change this! The Six chansons by Paul Hindemith complete the programme. Simple, unpretentious music, in which the texts by Rilke can be fully appreciated.

Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy
Te Deum

Lasse Thoresen
Mythes Étoilés op. 43

Paul Hindemith
