Passions & Lamentations
Cappella Amsterdam conducted by Daniel Reuss
A programme full of emotions. With subtle harmonic colouration and discolouration the compositions by De Wert, Gesualdo and Rihm texts from the Good Week will sound. Together with the reprise of Lamentation by American David Lang – world première on 24 November 2016 in Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ by Cappella Amsterdam – this is a concert in which even the music by renaissance masters Gesualdo and De Wert will sound modern.
‘Sing this music as if it is ancient music’, Rihm advised the singers for whm he wrote his 7 Passions-Texte, ‘and it will be clear that it absolutely no ancient music’. In this occasion we will perform the choral version of this touching piece.
