Just at the moment that Georg Friedrich Händel did not see any future for himself in England, Charles Jennens seduced him into writing an oratorio, Messiah. Händel needed merely three weeks to make the music for Jennens text about birth, crucifiction and the resurrection of Christ. Since the first performance in 1742 the composer celebrated great triumphs with Messiah, loved because of its beautiful solo-arias and overwhelming choral parts. Cappella Amsterdam has been asked again this year for a big sing-a-long-event in Sevilla. Local choirs will sing together with Cappella Amsterdam and Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla, a great spectacle for singers and audience!
