Again and Again
Cappella Amsterdam conducted by Daniel Reuss
‘People come and go, and the earth keeps on spinning...' this idea of timelessness is sung in again by the prominent American composer David Lang and also in the extensive family tree from Josquins Liber generationis. Alternately and thematically linked with each other, these refined compositions of these two composers will sound, with as a highpoint the world premiere of Langs lamentation; a composition commissioned by Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ with support from AMMODO.
Earlier Daniel Reuss and David Lang have worked together in the oratorium Lost Objects, which Lang describes as a determinative experience in his composing career. The concerts opens with a new composition by young Bulgarian/Hungarian composer Georgi Sztojanov, who won the Tenso Young Composers Award in 2014.
This concert is also the kick-off of the Tenso European Choir Festival [Visions & Memories] in Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, Amsterdam, 24 - 27 November, a weekend full of concerts by European and Dutch choirs, masterclasses, workshops.
